A perfect example of this is the story of Jashaan Gill. Please keep reading to find out more: From Internship to International Runways.

The Journey From Internship to International Runways

Hi, I’m Jashaan Gill, a fashion designer and creative entrepreneur behind the brand Jheez. From headlining shows in Los Angeles, New York, and Paris to launching my own unique streetwear collections, I’ve been fortunate to carve out an exciting path in this dynamic industry. My work is about championing individuality while blending creativity with culture, often reflecting my own roots and bold vision for modern style.

But every story has a beginning, and mine started long before the runway lights. I was just 15 years old, spending my summer holidays at ACE Embroidery, where I had my first real taste of the fashion world. And for that, I have Mathew Smart to thank.

Getting Started With ACE Embroidery

How I Met Mathew and How He Supported Me

I first met Mathew through a summer internship opportunity that came my way during school. At 15, I was full of curiosity but had no real idea of what working in fashion could look like. From the very first day at ACE Embroidery, Mathew welcomed me into his world with open arms and endless patience.

He didn’t just show me how things were done; he made sure I understood why. From the way he explained the intricacies of embroidery design to letting me get hands-on experience in the factory, I was learning the art and business of fashion from someone who genuinely cared. He encouraged me to ask questions and gave me responsibilities that built my confidence. Mathew wasn’t just offering me a summer job; he was giving me a foundation.

How ACE Embroidery Helped Set Me On My Path

ACE Embroidery wasn’t just a stepping stone for me; it was the launch pad. Working there opened my eyes to the skill and craftsmanship that goes into producing high-quality designs. It wasn’t glamorous, but it was real, and it instilled in me an appreciation for the technical and creative balance at the core of fashion.

What stood out for me was the access to seeing an idea come to life—from sketches to samples to finished pieces. It was the first place where I felt that my ideas could take shape in a tangible way. To this day, I still use ACE Embroidery’s facilities to produce some of my designs. That initial experience is woven into the fabric of what I do now.

The Journey to Where I Am Today

The road from interning at ACE Embroidery to showcasing collections in London, New York, Paris and LA hasn’t always been straightforward, but it’s been worth it. After finishing school, I invested time in studying Law, working on my craft, and building connections. Every win, every setback, and every lesson learned along the way has shaped the designer I am today.

Starting Jheez was a bold leap, especially moving into streetwear, a niche I felt passionate about challenging and redefining. It wasn’t easy, but I’ve spent the last decade bringing my vision to life. From customized pieces to iconic collections, each step has brought me closer to where I want to be.

Jashaan’s Very Own Brand: Jheez

A Peek Into Jheez

Jheez is more than a brand; it’s a movement. It’s about mixing global creativity with streetwear aesthetics to create pieces that spark conversation and celebrate identity. The designs are bold, unapologetic, and always evolving, reflecting my commitment to innovation and individuality.

The name itself comes from an expression I’ve always loved, and it perfectly mirrors the energy of the brand. With Jheez, I aim to create not just garments but statements.

Discovering My Interest in Fashion

My passion for fashion started at a young age. Coming from a South Asian Background, where culture and creativity often intertwine, I was surrounded by stories, people, and influences that sparked my imagination. But it was seeing how clothes could serve as a form of self-expression that truly hooked me.

I can still remember sketching outfits in my school notebooks and dreaming about seeing my designs come to life. That drive to create something unique and bold stayed with me, and it’s what led me to seize the opportunity to intern at ACE Embroidery in the first place.

Headlining at Global Fashion Shows

Headlining events in cities like LA, New York, and Paris feels surreal. These are places where creativity has no limits and where I can showcase my work to a global audience. Each event feels like a culmination of years of hard work, late nights, and dedication.

These moments validate my belief in my vision. They’re not just milestones; they’re reminders of how far I’ve come, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities.

Going Forward In The Fashion Industry

Key Lessons That Got Me Here

If I look back and try to pinpoint what’s helped me succeed, it all comes down to relationships, resilience, and staying true to myself. Mathew and the team at ACE Embroidery taught me the importance of detail and quality. Those lessons have stayed with me, influencing how I approach every design and collection.

It’s also about having the courage to take risks, whether that’s starting your own brand or putting work into the world that challenges norms.

Advice for Aspiring Fashion Professionals

To anyone wanting to start a career in fashion, my advice is simple: be curious, be open to learning, and don’t be afraid to start small. Your first opportunity, no matter how minor it seems, could be the beginning of something incredible. Build good relationships, take every lesson to heart, and trust your vision.

Experience With ACE Embroidery

My Experience with Mathew & ACE Embroidery

For me, Mathew and ACE Embroidery are more than memories. They’re a constant reminder of why I started this journey in the first place. Mathew’s trust and willingness to share his knowledge gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams.

My Ongoing Collaboration with ACE Embroidery

Even today, ACE Embroidery is a key part of my story. I still go back to the factory to produce designs, connect with the team, and collaborate on new ideas. There’s something special about knowing the place where I started is still helping me create what I dream of. The connection has always been more than professional; it’s deeply personal.

Final Thoughts

Starting in the fashion world at 15 was daunting, but Mathew made it possible for me to find my footing. I owe much of my career to him and his team. If there’s one thing I want to add, it’s this: never underestimate the power of giving someone a chance. That chance can change everything.

To Mathew and everyone at ACE Embroidery—thank you for being part of my story and, in many ways, the foundation of Jheez. Here’s to every stitch, every design, and the countless moments that have brought my dreams to life.
